CHS Today, First Student-Produced Newscast In The U.S.

CHS Today

The first CHS Today broadcast, with anchors Dennis Sullivan and Ron Stevens

In 1970 Connersville High School was the site of the first student television newscast anywhere in the United States. The program was pre-recorded, and there was no editing equipment. If students made a mistake, they had to start over and completely re-tape. The program was established by teacher Joseph Glowacki.

Since then students participating in this program have won numerous awards both during their high school days and later as broadcast journalists.

By 2003-04, students used a variety of technology to write scripts, edit tape, and generate graphics prior to a live broadcast to CHS and the Connersville community.
